About the place
Kibbutz Gaaton
This Western Galilee kibbutz was founded upon the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 by the Shomer Hatzair First of May Garin (core group) from Hungary, who arrived to Palestine as ma’apilim (illegal immigrants) and served in the Palmach. They were subsequently joined by Garinim from Israel and Latin America. The Kibbutz is named after a town mentioned in the Talmud and its name seemingly lives on in the neighboring town of Hirbat Ja’aton.
Kibbutz Gaaton has the ideal facilities to promote dance and well-developed infrastructures that can be converted for the Village’s purposes. The Kibbutz, which is well tended and surrounded by lush green gardens, evokes a pleasant and peaceful environment, thereby making it an excellent place to set up a dance village. The Kibbutz is a partner to the project’s implementation and committed to its success.
